This workbook, Cursive Handwriting Practice Workbook for Teens, is designed to inspire teens' interest in learning and practicing cursive handwriting. Teens enjoy writing sentences like "Wizard school is so cool," and, "Talk to you later." Exercises like these help to make learning fun, even at home. This unique teenage handwriting workbook provides teens who need to improve their cursive writing fluency a chance to do it with a more age appropriate workbook (since the sentences were prepared with a teenage audience in mind).Note: For teens who need more advanced handwriting practice (with a smaller font size and narrower lines, and without tracing exercises), Julie Harper also has a more advanced cursive handwriting workbook for teens: Advanced Cursive Handwriting Practice Workbook for Teens (ISBN 1523234598).This workbook focuses on writing phrases and sentences in cursive in three parts:Students practice tracing and copying phrases and sentences in Part 1.Part 2 just involves copying (with no tracing).A challenge is presented in Part 3: The sentences are printed, and students must rewrite them in cursive. This requires students to remember what the cursive letters look like (though they can look at a chart on pages 5-6 if they need a reminder).May your students or teenagers improve their handwriting skills and enjoy reading and writing these phrases and sentences.Updated August 15, 2014 (minor corrections).

I've been through so many different handwriting programs with my boys. They want to be better at cursive writing but they are too old for elementary programs, and we found out the hard way that using fancy italic methods really wastes years of time. This book is sort of what I had in mind because it isn't childish so it does appeal to teens. The book would be better if it started with individual letter formation and gradual advances to paragraphs. I'm guessing the author is assuming that teens using this book already have the basics perfected. The reality is that anytime a new type of handwriting is introduced, it needs to be done so starting at basic individual letter formation because the styles are all so different.

I purchased this for my 9-year-old third grader because she just finished learning the single letters and, now, needs something to practice words. I needed to be sure she could trace and write and to be sure her interest was held while doing so. It exceeds my expectations. The phrases are short and age-appropriate; however, for a teen? I guess it depends on personal needs. I would think this is too remedial for a teenager unless they are just beginning to learn cursive.Take a look at the inside...it is a fair representation of the entire book. It gets progressively more difficult in that the phrases go from being traceable to untraceable to translation from printing to cursive; however, the phrases don't seem to get longer or more difficult. They are just that...phrases.For my 11-year-old, I chose "Wacky Sentences Handwriting Workbook" for third and fourth grade, also by Julie Harper. I feel that book is more age-appropriate for a teen. It is mostly personal preference and, I can tell you, my 11-year-old would much rather she had this book than the wacky sentences book; however, only because the phrases are shorter and, she feels, would be less work for her.

It's okay, the problem is that it doesn't give you direction on writing cursive. It simply is a bunch of exercises. For example, how does one start a capital "G"? I know the answer, because I was taught traditional cursive, but teens these days often don't know, because it's not taught in schools anymore.I am baffled as to why the authors didn't do this simple example. It's widely available on the internet, so no big deal (for example, at http://missourieducationwatchdog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/cursive.png). But it should have been in the book.

I got this workbook, as a means for me to relearn the basics of cursive writing. Yes, I am one of those people who learned cursive writing in school. However, my writing has been sloppy which didn't work so well after the fountain pen bug bit me. So far so good. There has been some adjustments so I can have time to practice but so far well worth it. I like that there are arrows to show which way to move the pen/nib. I would recommend but like anything in this class a little more direction in the text would have been nice.

My 14 year old learn cursive with this book in 3 weeks. Yes is very appealing to teens and that kept him interested.

My child has taken cursive since 1st grade. She is now going into 4th and this book was a bit behind what she was used to. Luckily we got the Advanced which was right on par with where she was at, and I will be saving this book for my tutoring.

This is a great book to help a child brush up on cursive handwriting. They don't teach cursive in the public schools here, so this book has been amazing. I have purchased one for each child.

My daughter loves this workbook.....since they don't teach cursive any longer in the schools, it's a great way for her to work at her own pace and practice.
